“PREY” 2022 Re

I Just watched it and here's a review.

"Prey" (2022) it's a visually captivating experience, drawing viewers in with stunning cinematography and a richly immersive setting. The film’s backdrop and natural lighting feel authentic and dynamic, capturing the rugged beauty of the environment in a way that enhances the story’s intensity. At its core, the narrative follows a classic underdog arc, led by a resilient, hard headed (she got knocked out 3 times in the movie), and resourceful protagonist determined to defy the odds.

But let’s talk about the real emotional anchor here, the dog. From the moment they introduced this loyal companion, I was invested. The filmmakers didn’t just use the dog as a plot device; they made him integral to the story’s emotional weight. I lost count of how many times I was on the edge of my seat, silently pleading, “Please don’t hurt the dog!” Each close call had my heart racing. Remarkably, the film avoids the well-worn trope of tragic animal loss and allows the dog to emerge unscathed, a refreshing and satisfying choice that felt like a victory in itself.

The story, while familiar in its beats, remains engaging due to the strength of its characters and the emotional core of their journey. The bond between the protagonist and her canine companion adds a poignant layer, making the stakes feel personal and tangible. However, there were moments where the CGI, particularly in scenes involving wildlife, felt inconsistent, slightly detracting from the otherwise seamless visual experience.

The action sequences are well choreographed but at times felt stylized in a way that edged on overly cinematic rather than raw and grounded. Even so, the pacing and intensity of the confrontations kept the tension high and the narrative moving forward.

Overall, "Prey" is a solid addition to its genre, offering breathtaking visuals, a compelling protagonist, and an unexpectedly heartwarming takeaway. It’s a film that balances brutal action and emotional resonance, and for anyone worried about the dog’s fate, you can breathe easy. With its strong execution and emotional payoff, "Prey" earns a solid 7.4 out of 10 and comes highly recommended for fans of visually stunning and character-driven stories.
